Privacy policy
1. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE
The person named in the legal notice above is the controller of your personal data. You can reach us at hello@useless.be.
2. WHAT WE COLLECT
- Email address, when you join the list.
- Name or business name and an optional website link, only if you tick the box to be shown on the Wall of Uselessness. This is public.
- Member number, which we give you when you confirm your email.
- Technical data such as your IP address, which our hosting provider processes in its server logs to keep the website running and secure.
The name you type on your certificate is drawn in your own browser. It is not sent to us and not stored.
3. WHY, AND ON WHAT BASIS
- To send you the confirmation email and the emails you ask for, such as the link to your certificate. Basis: needed to provide what you asked for.
- To send you news about USELESS. and its products. Only if you tick the separate box for it. Basis: your consent.
- To show your name or business and website link on the Wall. Basis: your consent.
- To run and secure the website. Basis: our legitimate interest.
You agree to the Wall by filling in your name and confirming your email address. You only get news emails if you tick the separate box for it, which is not ticked by default. Nothing is saved on our list until you press the button in the confirmation email. The link in that email works for 48 hours.
4. WHO RECEIVES YOUR DATA
- Brevo (France) stores our contact list and sends our emails.
- Netlify (United States) hosts the website and runs the sign-up function. Data may therefore be processed outside the European Union, under the safeguards that Netlify provides in its data processing terms.
- Google Fonts: the website loads its fonts from Google, so Google receives your IP address when you open a page.
We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising.
5. HOW LONG WE KEEP IT
Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you do not confirm your email address, we do not add it to our list. Our email provider may keep technical records of sent emails for a limited time.
6. YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing does not affect what we did before. Email hello@useless.be and we answer within one month.
- Unsubscribe from emails: use the link at the bottom of any email.
- Remove your name from the Wall: sign up again with the same email, choose "No wall" and confirm, or email us. See the FAQ.
You can also file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données), gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be.
